• Three Ex-Officio Members – former president, Ajiboye Adeleke (1967); Bosede Oriade (Mrs.) (1984) and Olubunmi Ariyo (Mrs.) (1977)
On behalf of the out-going executives, former President, Pastor Ajiboye Adeleke, thanked the association for the opportunity to serve and encouraged the new committee to work even harder to increase the capacity and intensity for service. Under his stewardship, the association had recorded remarkable growth in membership and projects.
The new President, Moyo Okuyiga stated: “I will always look back very fondly at my time in OGS. It was a very formative part of my life. The school contributed immensely to what I am today. Like most Nigerians of that era, being thrown among young strangers, far from home, was quite daunting at the beginning. However, we all adjusted and I can say that some of my best friends are the ones that I made while at OGS.
“Given the state of schools in Nigeria today, I continue to wonder how the school and governmental authorities (both local and regional), in those days, managed to maintain the school with such good standards and facilities. At the time, we did complain about the facilities and the food, but looking at the present state of many schools in our home country currently, I now realize we had it good. This should make us more determined to help improve the current facilities in OGS so that the pupils coming after us can improve their education and develop fond memories for our Alma Mater similar to ours. In the words of our school motto, let us Keep Pushing.”
Moyo Okuyiga attended Osogbo Grammar School from 1966 to 1970. He then went on to International School, Ibadan for his A-Levels and then obtained degrees in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, London and University of Wisconsin, Madison. After that, he worked as a petroleum engineer for British Petroleum for a number of years in various locations in the United States and the Middle East. He is now retired and lives in Houston, Texas. Moyo has been a member of OGSOSANA since 2009 and is one of the pioneer members.
